8.2. LEADING OR FOLLOWING?

Most people find that either leading or following feels more natural and the other one takes more effort. Which one comes more easily to you - leading of following? Which one requires more effort?

Invitations for this week

Create opportunities to be more present with the part that takes more effort.

  • Decide if you are going to focus on leading or following.

  • List three situations in which you could step more into whichever you chose out of leading and following. Choose one of these situations to focus on this week.

  • If you were to rate your discomfort when thinking about this situation on a scale from 0 to 10, where would it be? Are you happy to live with it or would you like do something to manage it? What would be helpful?

  • I sometimes notice that thinking about a situation like that feels more uncomfortable that actually being in that situation. Notice what it is like for you.

  • Do you have a sense of how your relationship with your child might change if you were more comfortable with leading/following? Journal about it in as much detail as you can.

  • What would help you to stick with your plan this week?

Review everything you've written and pull it together into a simple plan for the coming week. Make sure you are clear about the situation you want to be more present in, how you want to show up and how you’ll support yourself to keep going with it.

As always, come and share where you are at in the group
