About the event
Una Archer and Louisa Whitney warmly invite you to attend this webinar to look at different models for sharing the care of children following a separation. The webinar is for both separating parents and professionals working with individuals, or couples, going through a separation who want to look at how they can best support their clients in making arrangements for their children.
The webinar will explain more about:
- Co-parenting, parallel parenting and nesting approaches to parenting after separation
- How each of these approaches can benefit children and parents
- Practical considerations when implementing each of these approaches
Every one of these approaches can work really well for parents and children as long as the chosen approach meets the current needs of the family. During the webinar, we will help participants to:
- Create a detailed list of their (or their client’s) current needs. This will form the foundation for creating their unique approach to parenting after separation.
- Choose elements from co-parenting, parallel parenting and nesting approaches that will be helpful for them and their children (or their clients).
- Create a tailored parenting path that best meets the needs of each member of the family.
As relationships change and evolve, it is helpful to regularly review and adapt the parenting plan to reflect those changes. Louisa and Una will also share further resources to continue to navigate what can be a bumpy road.
The webinar will be hosted on Zoom. Please note it will not be recorded because of the nature of the confidential space and participants will need to attend live. This is a two-hour webinar with a short break in the middle.
Louisa Whitney is a family mediator and non-practising solicitor. Having worked as both a solicitor and a mediator Louisa found mediation to be the most constructive way of helping clients to make arrangements following a separation. In 2013 she made the move to be a full-time family mediator and set up LKW Family Mediation. She is also a PPC (support and mentor for other mediators) and trainer. She is passionate about helping professionals to be their true selves to help them support separating individuals and couples in a way that feels authentic for them.
Una Archer is a Circle of Security Parenting facilitator helping parents to soften the impact of the separation on their children by strengthening their relationship with their children. Often separated parents want to focus on being there for their children but have too much going on to focus on supporting their children in the way they want to. Una guide separated parents through an easy-to-follow step-by-step process based on decades of attachment research that helps them to nurture their relationship with their children even if they have little time or energy. It helps them to feel more confident in their ability to support their children through separation and for many years to come.
