Helping parents nurture emotionally secure children and strengthening the home–school partnership that supports every learner
Circle of Security Parenting for Your School Community
At the heart of every child’s wellbeing is a sense of emotional security - the deep knowing that they are safe, seen, and loved as they grow into themselves. When children feel secure, they are more able to engage in learning, manage their emotions, and form positive relationships.

Many factors can influence a child’s sense of security: family stress, life changes, temperament, or neurodiversity, and schools often see the ripple effects in the classroom. While we can’t control all of life’s challenges, we can empower parents with the understanding and confidence to be a steady, attuned presence their child can rely on.

Circle of Security Parenting offers just that: a practical, research-based framework that helps parents recognise their children’s emotional needs and respond in ways that build trust, resilience, and connection.
Why Circle of Security Parenting works

Based on over 60 years of attachment research, Circle of Security Parenting has been implemented in schools, children’s centres, and family services worldwide. It helps parents see the emotional needs behind behaviour and strengthens their capacity to provide calm, confident care even when things feel difficult.

Children who feel more secure are better able to:

• Regulate their emotions and behaviour
• Form positive relationships with peers and adults
• Feel confident to explore and learn
• Recover more easily from upsets and challenges
• Show empathy and kindness towards others
What parents will learn
Over eight sessions, parents explore how to:

1. Understand their child’s emotional world: seeing behaviour as communication rather than defiance or disinterest.
2. Recognise their child’s cues for connection or independence: knowing when to step in and when to step back.
3. Support emotional regulation: helping children manage big feelings without escalating conflict.
4. Build stronger, more trusting relationships: creating a foundation of safety their child can return to when things get hard.
5. Repair relationships after ruptures: learning simple ways to rebuild connection after arguments or upsets.
6. Reflect on their own triggers and patterns: developing greater self-awareness and compassion.
7. Reignite delight and enjoyment: rediscovering moments of warmth and joy in everyday family life.
8. Grow confidence in their parenting: feeling calmer, clearer, and better equipped to support their child’s wellbeing and learning.
Each session includes engaging video materials, guided reflection, and opportunities to connect with other parents in the school community.

Here's what parents said about Circle of Security Parenting
"The Circle of Security Parenting course was very supportive. It felt like meeting up with an old friend who helped me to find my own answers to some of my own worries around parenting. I found that it had a good balance of resources and space to think and feel. The course was both reassuring and helpful. I will be thinking about the content far into the future, as it is helping me to be the kind of parent I want to be for my daughter."

Mum of a 9-year-old daughter
"My husband and I joined Una's Circle of Security course when relations with our eldest of three sons became particularly challenging, for me especially. I felt I had read all the books on attachment theory and knew what I ought to be doing as a mother, but couldn't translate that into impactful action in practice. In Una and in the Circle of Security programme, we found a parenting resource that has actually facilitated a shift in consciousness for us both, with all of us benefiting from the greater harmony that has allowed for at home (and elsewhere in our lives). Through the course, we were able to not only identify what particular aspects of parenting we found triggering as individuals, but their root causes as well, enabling healing of those areas and - most importantly - a change in the way we parent our kids. Very simply, the Circle of Security model is profound and Una is a skilled and compassionate guide through the material, asking the right questions to help you look deeper. I am extremely grateful to her for introducing us to a resource that we will continue to use and revisit, for the early years of our boys' lives through to adolescence and beyond."
